Cabin Tent Frequently Asked Questions

Are Life Intents cabin tents waterproof?

Yes — our cabin tents use treated cotton canvas designed to shed rain while still breathing better than synthetic fabrics. Like any canvas tent, best performance comes from a tight pitch (proper staking + guy lines) and basic care (fully drying before storage).

Are these 4-season cabin tents?

They’re built for all-season use, including cold-weather camping when properly set up. For winter conditions, we recommend: a tight pitch, strong staking, using guy lines, selecting a sheltered site, and (when desired) adding a compatible wood stove for safe heat.  But you will need to be cautious of snow loads!

Can I use a wood-burning stove inside?

Yes. Our cabin tents are stove-ready with a built-in stove jack (model dependent). Always follow stove manufacturer instructions and common safety practices: use a stove mat, maintain clearance from walls/gear, use a spark arrestor, keep ventilation, and never leave a hot stove unattended.

How many people can sleep in each cabin tent size?

It depends on whether you’re using sleeping bags, pads, or beds. As a general guide:

  • 13 size’: comfortable for a small family or a couple who wants space for gear
  • 16’ size: great “family sweet spot” for beds + walking space + stove
  • 19.5 size’: ideal for larger groups or multi-zone setups (sleep + seating + stove)

Do canvas tents get condensation?

Canvas is naturally more breathable than polyester, so it typically reduces condensation. That said, any tent can build moisture in certain conditions (cold nights, high humidity, wet ground). Ventilation + keeping bedding off the walls + proper site selection makes a big difference.

How do I prevent mildew or musty smells?

The big rule: dry it completely before storage. If you pack up damp, open it back up at home to dry. Store in a cool, dry place with airflow, and avoid long-term storage in a hot garage or sealed plastic bins.  Having the canvas exposed to sun so it can dry also is a big help.

How long does setup take, and how many people do I need?

Most customers can set up in about 20 minutes once they’ve done it once or twice. Two people makes setup easier (especially for larger sizes), but it can be done solo with a little patience and good practice.

What should I set my cabin tent up on?

Level ground is best. For extra comfort and to protect your floor, many owners use a footprint, tarp, or a raised platform/deck. Avoid pitching in low spots where water collects, and clear sharp debris and tall plants before setting up.

How wind-resistant are these tents?

When properly staked and fully guyed out, our cabin tents are designed for rough conditions. Wind performance depends heavily on site selection (trees/terrain), soil type (stake hold), and how tight the pitch is.

What’s included with the tent?

Each cabin tent includes the tent body and the structural support system, plus the components needed to pitch it (stakes/guy lines) and a storage bag.
